PEDAW – Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness Campaign
The Jessie’s Legacy program at Family Services of the North Shore is the provincial leader for the annual Provincial Eating Disorders Awareness campaign traditionally launched the first week in February, with various initiatives taking place year round. Family Services of the North Shore collaborates with the Healthy Minds, Healthy Campuses project, Kelty Resource Centre, Looking Glass Foundation, Provincial Adult Tertiary Eating Disorders Program, St. Paul’s Hospital/Providence Health and Project True in supporting community initiatives around BC.
Our task is to provide leadership to a wide collective effort of volunteers, eating disorder professionals health care providers, counsellors, educators, social workers and individuals committed to raising awareness around the prevention, early intervention and treatment of eating disorders. This includes awareness of risk and protective factors such as resiliency, self-esteem, media literacy and body image, associated with disordered eating.
